The goals, initiatives, and operations objectives of Little League® on a nationwide scale are carried out by dedicated staff at each of Little League’s Regional offices. Recently, two Assistant Regional Directors joined the Little League staff to continue the important and vital work supporting local districts and leagues within each region. The new Assistant Regional Directors include Kiley Johnson in the Southwestern Region and Amry Shelby in the Eastern Region.
Kiley Johnson is the newest Assistant Regional Director at the Southwestern Region, joining the staff in June, headquartered at the George W. Bush Little League Center in Waco, Texas. Mr. Kiley will work under the direction of Southwestern Region Director, Sergio Guzman. The Southwestern Region serves districts and local leagues in Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Mr. Johnson began his involvement with Little League as a volunteer with Southern Tioga Little League, where he assisted with the coordination of the 2010 Pennsylvania State Finals. His most recent professional experience was as Director of Football Operations and Sports Information Assistant at Mansfield University in Mansfield, Pa. Mr. Johnson is a graduate of Lock Haven University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Sport Administration with a minor in Business Administration. To supplement his educational achievements, he interned with the Washington Redskins and in the Mansfield University sports information department. He has also worked in supporting roles with Penn State’s ice hockey program and at the NCAA Division I ice hockey regionals.
Amry Shelby is Assistant Regional Director in the Eastern Region, joining the staff in March. Mr. Shelby will work with a staff led by Eastern Region Director Don Soucy at the A. Bartlett Giamatti Little League Leadership Training Center in Bristol, Conn. The Eastern Region oversees Little League operations in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Mr. Shelby is a graduate of Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management with a minor in Coaching. Mr. Shelby then completed coursework for his master’s degree in Organizational Management, also at Wayne State College. Mr. Shelby was a four-year member of the men’s basketball team, and served as team captain. He was an all-conference selection and was a Wayne State College Presidential Scholar-Athlete for four years.
Following his playing career, Mr. Shelby joined the coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons at his alma mater. Mr. Shelby’s experience also includes work with the YMCA of Metropolitan Cedar Rapids (Iowa) as a health and wellness coach.
